FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Below you can find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about PastrX.

1. What is PastrX?

PastrX is a simple text-hosting and sharing platform that allows you to store text online and share it with others using a unique link.

Whether you're sharing code, notes, logs, configuration files, snippets, or other text, PastrX makes it quick and easy to upload and access your content online.

2. Who can see my Pastes?

This depends on the visibility option you choose when creating your Paste.

  • Public Pastes — Can be viewed by anyone and may appear in PastrX listings or search engines.
  • Unlisted Pastes — Do not normally appear publicly or in listings, but anyone who has the Paste's direct link may be able to view it.
  • Private Pastes — Where available to registered members, these are restricted to your account and are intended for personal use.

Always choose the appropriate visibility setting before sharing sensitive information.

3. Do I need an account to create a Paste?

Depending on the features enabled on PastrX, you may be able to create Pastes without registering.

Creating an account can provide additional features such as managing your Pastes, accessing private Pastes, and managing your account history.

4. What can I use PastrX for?

PastrX can be used for many types of text, including:

  • Code snippets
  • Error logs
  • Configuration files
  • Notes
  • Tutorials
  • Text documents
  • Development information
  • Temporary text sharing

Please make sure anything you upload complies with our Terms & Conditions.

5. Can I share my Paste with someone?

Yes. Once your Paste has been created, you can share its link with other people.

For unlisted Pastes, sharing the direct link is generally how other people access the content.

6. How long are Pastes stored?

Paste storage depends on the expiration option selected when the Paste is created and the configuration of PastrX.

If an expiration period is selected, the Paste may automatically be removed once that period has expired.

7. Can I delete my Paste?

If deletion functionality is available for your Paste or account, you can use the provided deletion option.

Registered users may also have access to additional Paste management features.

Once a Paste has been deleted, it may not be possible to recover it.

8. Are my Pastes private?

Not automatically.

A Paste should only be considered private when you use a privacy option specifically designed to restrict access.

Do not upload passwords, API keys, private keys, financial information, or other sensitive information to a public or unlisted Paste.

9. Will search engines index my Paste?

Public Pastes may be indexed by search engines.

Unlisted and private Pastes are intended to have more restricted visibility, although PastrX cannot guarantee that information shared through the internet will never be discovered or redistributed.

10. Can I report a Paste?

Yes. If you find content on PastrX that violates our Terms & Conditions, applicable law, or another person's rights, you should report it to us through the available contact or abuse-reporting method.

When reporting content, please provide the Paste URL and a description of the issue.
